Better treatment for cancer patients, thanks to a new
world class PET CT scanning centre at Ascot Radiology

Accuracy, timeliness and precision of diagnosis and treatment are top of the wish list for any person diagnosed with cancer. And now, with the launch of a new, world class PET CT scanning service, Ascot Radiology is helping patients and their doctors in the fight against cancer.

Event management and media relations was the brief to spice communications group, and securing the Prime Minister as the Guest of Honour was top of the list of priorities.

Spice worked with the client to organise an afternoon event, timed to fit in with the Prime Minister’s timetable, followed by a tour of the new facilities and clinical presentations by experts in the field.

Oncologists and referrers were the main target audience and media were also invited to join in the celebrations. A number of media angles and interview opportunities were developed, particularly for industry publications.

Ascot Radiology is recognised as one of the leading providers of diagnostic imaging in Auckland and this investment helps to cement its position as a world class radiology provider.

Launch of leading edge technology for Ascot Radiology

Ascot Radiology was one of the first radiology businesses in New Zealand to install a world leading, 4D ultrasound scanner. This machine provides parents with a live motion picture of their unborn baby, allowing them to fall in love from day one.

spice's brief was twofold – to introduce 4D scanning to midwives and obstetricians and educate them on the health benefits; and to boost consumer awareness and interest in 4D scanning.

A educational seminar was held for midwives and obstetricians, to demonstrate scanning and also to educate referrers on the medical benefits of the enhanced scan. Attendance was high with patient referrals coming in from the following day.

Using emotive images, case studies and human interest stories in mainstream Auckland media, spice launched a campaign aimed at generating quality media coverage. Following features on Close Up at 7, Holmes, New Zeeland Women's Weekly, The Aucklander and Little Treasures, consumer interest was high.

Within days, the 4D ultrasound was booked up to a month in advance, with consumers citing the media coverage and LCM referrals as their reason for booking. A great example of media relations driving consumer demand.
